The University of Adelaide’s School of Computer Science invites applications for a position of Lecturer in Computer Science. This is a continuing position that is available from April 2014 with a salary range of Salary of A$83,630 - A$99,300 per annum plus 17% superannuation contribution.
The applications should systematically address the following essential criteria:

·      A PhD in Computer Science or a closely related discipline;
·      Teaching experience demonstrating both commitment and success; or a demonstrated capacity to develop the skills that enable effective and inspirational participation in the teaching program of the school;
·      Ability to significantly contribute to the teaching and administration of subjects (including curriculum development) within the range of subjects offered by the school;
·      Ability to significantly contribute to world class research in an area of computer science.

Whilst the qualified applicants from all areas of computer science are welcome to apply, we particularly encourage applicants with a strong commitment and a track record of high quality teaching and research in software engineering. As part of the school’s commitment to grow the research and teaching activities related to software engineering, it has recently established and filled a chair of software engineering. The software engineering areas of current/future research and teaching activities are software systems engineering methods and tools, software architecture, model-driven engineering, global software engineering, evidence-based software engineering, and engineering knowledge management.

The School of Computer Sciences at the University of Adelaide has a history reaching back almost 50 years and has major research strengths in computer vision, parallel and distributed high performance computing and bio-inspired methods of computation. The School is home to the highly successful Australian Centre for Visual Technologies, which is Australia’s largest Computer Vision research group and earns over $3m dollars annually in pure and industry-supported research income. Other research strengths include Evolutionary Computation, Software Architecture of Distributed Systems, andLocation Aware Web Services. Our research in the area of Artificial Intelligence and Image processing has been ranked above world class by the Australian Government Excellence in Research Australia 2010 benchmarking.
