Culture (e.g., national culture, organizational culture, religious culture,
IT culture, etc) plays a significant role in the modern world and has
widely different impacts on IT/IS. With the markets crossing boundaries and
becoming global entities, individuals and organizations that adopt and
implement IS/IT are bound to face a wide-variety of cultural issues. For
instance, within organizations, culture (and sub-cultures) is believed to
play an important role in their day-to-day operations involving IT/IS and a
variety of stakeholders. The issue of culture becomes global and even more
significant when the organizations interact with other organizations using
IS/IT. At most times, such IT/IS need to be designed, implemented and
managed with sensitivity to culture. Likewise, IT/IS has a potential to
drive cultural changes in a society thereby enabling cultural integration
across globe. Also, IT/IS can impact both professional and organizational
cultures. While culture is one of the most widely studied topics within IS
discipline, there remain several significant gaps in the literature in
understanding the implications of culture on IT/IS and vice-versa. We
invite conceptual, analytical, or empirical papers including case studies
that develop or extend theory and practice. Topics of the interest include,
but not limited to:

· National culture in the context of IT adoption, diffusion and use
in global scenario

· National culture and social networking sites (or social media):
Usage and motivations

· Multi-level analysis of culture and technology acceptance

· Cultural issues in IT/IS development

· Global and cultural issues in implementing enterprise systems

· Cross-cultural IS applications and their effect on organizational
performance
