*DESCRIPTION OF MINITRACK*



The mini-track on Spatial Business Intelligence, Analytics, and Sustainable
Management seeks to provide a forum for research on varied aspects of
geographic information systems (GIS) for business intelligence, analytics,
knowledge management, and management.  This Mini-track is supported by
SIG-GIS of AIS.



The Mini-track is part of the Track on Business Intelligence, Analytics,
and Knowledge Management (SIG-DSS).  It is fully described at

In concert with the AMCIS 2014 theme, GIS fosters sustainable solutions
through reducing environmental impacts by analyzing spatial proximities,
configurations, and hot spots.  GIS is a primary approach to achieving
ecological solutions for smart cities and societies.



GIS and spatial technologies are growing rapidly in business and government.
Increasingly these applications involve business intelligence (BI) and
analytics.  Although there is considerable research on GIS technology and
geographic information science, there has been relatively little research
in spatial decision making in business, government, and organizations. This
track seeks manuscripts that address conceptual theory, methodology,
applications, and cases on these topics.  The relevance to research is to
build up greater knowledge of the geo-spatial aspects of decision-making
and management, and to develop theory and applications, sometimes building
on well-known concepts in the DSS and MIS fields.  Since this area is
expanding and becoming essential in business and government, the mini-track
can shed light on a new and evolving field.
