CALL FOR EXTENDED ABSTRACTS

Technology Enabled Business Models: Platforms, Analytics, and Performance

The rapid growth of information intensive models of business has fostered a significant amount of interest in trying to understand the constituents of successful deployment of technology in information heavy organisations. In the recent past, terms such as data science, big data, predictive analytics and technology enabled services have entered the discourse of both academia and industry. These terms appear to be largely fuelled by phenomena such as:

  *   The rise of the service sector (primarily due to the influence of information technologies)
  *   The widespread acceptance of social networking by individuals and organisations
  *   Nearly constant connectivity, including mobile technologies
  *   The ability to generate and analyze large data sets
  *   Collaborative inter-organizational service systems

We welcome submissions to this conference on all aspects of these issues - conceptual, empirical, case studies, topical surveys and design. The conference will have one day devoted to presentations by practitioners to enable participants to clearly see the contemporary issues that industry faces. The second day will be devoted to academic presentations - research addressing the issues above. We intend for this to be very much a working conference - much like a workshop to enable discussion and better development of ideas that are nascent. To encourage this, we invite the submission of extended abstracts that are six to eight single spaced pages long (approximately 2500 words).Papers presented at the conference will be included in a proceedings volume in digital format (authors will have the option to opt out of inclusion to develop their ideas further for publication).

The BIT group:

Business and Information Technologies (BIT) is a network of research institutions studying the impacts of new and online information and communication technologies on business practices in various countries. It is led by researchers at the UCLA Anderson School of Management. The study is following changes that are occurring in firms and industry sectors over an extended time horizon. The project was started in 2002 and has now grown to include 21 partners in 17 countries. A conference is held each year and three books have been published.
