Second Call for Papers
The 5th Scandinavian Conference of Information Systems,
SCIS 2014
Designing Human Technologies
August 10-13, 2014, Sørup Herregaard, Ringsted, Denmark

Call for papers
Roskilde University and Aalborg University welcome you to the Fifth Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems (SCIS 2014). SCIS 2014 will be held August 10-13, in conjunction with the 37th Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandinavia (IRIS 2014) under the auspices of the IRIS Association (http://www.iris-sjis.org).
While most participants are from the Nordic countries, we welcome researchers from all parts of the world to the conference, bringing along and delivering other than the Nordic perspectives on IS into the discussion.
We expect to publish accepted papers in a volume of Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (Springer).
Designing Human Technologies
Designing Human Technologies is a broad technological concept based on the principle that users, the target group and other interested parties must be involved in ethical and society-related considerations about the design, in the design process itself and in verifying how designs contribute to the fulfillment of needs and solution of a problem. Working with the theme may include thorough analysis on how designs are used and included in human life and/or how to design solutions for select issues.
Designing Human Technologies includes information technology but also: mobility technology, environment/sustainable technology, energy technology and technology in connection with city design, natural resorts, innovative and appealing space and experiences, physical planning and organisation, climate adaptation, solutions of information and communication technology, policies, products, service and/or experiences.
The theme is also related to a Strategic Research Initiative at Roskilde University.
See: Designing Human Technologies: a design-oriented Strategic Research Initiative at Roskilde University<http://rucforsk.ruc.dk/site/en/activities/designing-human-technologies%28abc2fa96-3beb-4b2c-9931-1ac9603195d7%29.html>
The Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems is open for full research papers within the conference theme as well as other areas of IS research. We welcome empirical as well as theoretical and methodological papers.
