Theme: Big Data, Cloud Data and Applications
URL: http://www.ieeebigdata.org/2014/satellite/coimbra/index.html

Bigdata is a hot topic at the moment. The IEEE BigData Coimbra Satellite Session will allow researchers to discuss together approaches for dealing efficiently with data of big Volume, Velocity and/or Variety, and will also allow participants to listen to industry experiences and to discuss future collaborations. We need to define architectures and approaches for dealing efficiently with BigData, cloud data and to learn more about applications and use cases. The IEEE BigData 2014 Coimbra Satellite Session focuses on Big Data and Cloud Data Management, and with BigData Applications. The major topics include but are not limited to: Big Data Architectures, Big Data Modeling, Big Data As A Service, Cloud Data Management, Big Data for Vertical Industries, Big Data Analytics, Big Data Toolkits, Big Data Open Platforms, and Big Data Applications in various industries. The Coimbra Satellite Session will be a 2 days’ event, with research paper presentations, panel discussions, tutorials and use cases presentations by industry. Selected high-tech companies will present their BigData use cases. A Work-in-Progress (WiP) session will allow discussions on on-going promising work.

All submitted manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by 3 reviewers. Accepted and presented papers from the Coimbra Satellite Session will appear in the proceedings of the 3rd IEEE International Congress on BigData (BigData 2014) at Anchorage, Alaska which will be indexed by EI in IEEE Xplore. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register to the 3rd IEEE International Congress on BigData (BigData 2014), Anchorage, Alaska. It is expected that the author will do a paper discussion at Coimbra, Portugal on May 15-16, 2014 as well as a formal paper presentation at Anchorage, Alaska on June 27 – July 2, 2014.

Extended versions of all accepted papers will be invited for publication in the International Journal of Web Services Research (JWSR) which is indexed by SCI and EI or in the book "Big Data Applications and Use Cases" for the Springer International Series on Applications and Trends in Computer Science. The book will be indexed by Thomson Reuters SCI/EI. Submitted manuscripts will be limited to 8 (IEEE Proceedings style) pages and REQUIRED to be formatted using the IEEE Proceedings template in WORD or Latex Package. Unformatted papers and papers beyond the page limit will not be reviewed. Electronic submission of manuscripts (in PDF or Word format) is required.
