WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE

e-Government workshop main objective is to promote the presentation and

discussion of results and contributions achieved by the e-government

research and practice communities.

As part of the CENTERIS 2014, which will be held in Troia, Portugal, on

15-17 October 2014, this workshop intents to discuss the major

advancements on strategies, frameworks, methodologies, and tools for

e-government development.

Some illustrative subjects that may be covered in the workshop are: how

e‑government phenomenon is being pursued, either in developed and

developing countries; what are some of the main theoretical, methodological

and instrumental achievements in the e-government domain; how governments have

been using social media for public administration and for outreach to citizens; how

information and communication technologies (ICT) have been used to achieve

openness, transparency, and accountability in government; how ICT can be used to

achieve more proactive, smart, and innovative public services; what are the impacts

for citizens and for public, private organizations, and non-governmental organizations

(NGOs) of e‑government development; and how is the phenomenon of e‑government

development prospectively foreseen by researchers and practitioners.

By sharing a broad, holistic and eclectic perspective on e-government concept, this

workshop aims at exploring the multiple ways by which information systems and

technology may catalyze and facilitate the reformation, transformation, and
