Call for Papers
HICSS 2015 Minitrack Title: Open Data Services
Part of the Decision Analytics, Mobile Services & Service Science Track

Details:
January 5-8, 2015
Grand Hyatt, Kauai
Website: www.hicss.hawaii.edu<http://www.hicss.hawaii.edu/>

How does the value provided by open data services disrupt markets? Open data is no longer a novelty, and its importance as a source of new digital services is expected to grow fast. As the available data stack grows, we can see the proliferation of innovative new services on many areas (e.g. traffic, news etc.) based on two key trends: the opening of the vast data resources collected by authorities and different governmental units, and the increasing availability of new open sensor data (for example, from mobile devices).

We seek novel research describing innovative services or service systems created by employing open data. The submissions can be research papers, case studies, or practitioner reports related to the publication of the open data sets followed by new service development and their implications. Furthermore, we are interested in infrastructural open data usage, open data commons, peer-to-peer-produced open data and “hybrid models” in addition to aggregation usage of both open and proprietary data sets in unison to develop new services.

Studies employing either qualitative or quantitative research methods, as well as design research are all welcomed. The submissions can be research papers, case studies, or practitioner reports related to the publication of the open data sets followed by new service development and their implications. Of special interest are novel applications of available open data in various domains, such as, preventive healthcare, traffic, media, and travel, to name a few.

We will provide a fast track for best papers to a journal.

Relevant topics may include (but are not limited to):
· Novel approaches to development of open data applications
· Business value of open data services
· Business model destruction/creation caused by open data
· Open data service ecosystems
· Applications and models utilizing “quantified self” data
· Mydata and similar personal data management approaches
· Location and sensor data based services
· Open data infrastructures
· Privacy issues related to open data and open data services
· Aggregation of open and proprietary data
