             2014 IEEE International
            SERVICE CUP Contest (CUP2014)

                  Call for Participation

The 2014 IEEE International Service Cup is the seventh episode of the
series of
contest. The Service Cup Contest aims to apply SOA and cloud computing
techniques in
solving real world problems and promote education of related techniques at
undergraduate and graduate level. The contest opens to students (Students
Group) and
industry practitioners (Professionals Group).
The participation team needs to submit a technical paper, as well as
implement an
online system to demonstrate the solution to the problem they choose. The
evaluation
is based the novelty of the application, the technical depth of the
solution, and
the completeness of the demo system. Around 6 teams are selected to the final
contest hosted by the IEEE ICWS2014 conference and their papers are
included in the
IEEE SERVICE proceedings (EI index). The teams have chance to present their
solutions and demo their systems in the final contest. The winning teams
share $1500
and each team member receives an IEEE issued certificate.
The contest focuses on using the SOA?methodologies, solution reference
architectures, and tools to solve real world problems. We choose a
different theme
each year, while the real world application is chosen by the participants.
CUP2014
has two themes - cloud computing and SOA. The two themes are interlinked.
The teams
can choose to build their application as a classic SOA system, or can
explore the
new potentials of Clouds.
