Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with Security of Employment
The Technology Management Department (TM) at the University of
California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications
for a position at either the Lecturer with Security of Employment or
Senior Lecturer with Security of Employment
levels. Applicants should be able to contribute to the department's
undergraduate program in Technology and
Information Management (TIM) through teaching and administrative
responsibilities. Candidates should have expertise
as well as a record of outstanding teaching in the management of
technology area. This could include teaching of
courses on new product development, supply chain management,
operations, high-tech marketing, and
entrepreneurship in the high-tech sector.
We have a preference for candidates with industry experience and a
record of professional contribution to the fields of
management of technology and/or information technology.
The successful candidate will be able to contribute to the
undergraduate program by teaching and developing courses
in the areas of management of technology, supply chain management,
operations, business information systems, and
possibly high-tech marketing and high-tech entrepreneurship. The
successful candidate will also be expected to take
on service and administrative responsibilities for the TM department
that advance the undergraduate program --
responsibilities that may include but are not limited to: curriculum
development, marketing, and undergraduate
advising. The ability to contribute significantly to graduate
education through teaching and service, as well as the
mentoring of graduate students is highly desirable. The successful
candidate must be able to work with students,
faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural
backgrounds. We are especially interested in candidates who
can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
RANK: Lecturer or Senior Lecturer with Security of Employment (SOE),
commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
The Lecturer SOE rank is a full-time, permanent position with the
rights and responsibilities of membership in the
Academic Senate; "Security of Employment" is analogous to tenure.
Teaching, professional achievement and activity,
and University and public service constitute the criteria for
advancement. Appointees to this title must also
demonstrate intellectual leadership, as documented by materials
demonstrating that the candidate has made
outstanding and recognized contributions to the development of his or
her special field and/or of pedagogy, through
publication (either in traditional forms or in electronic format),
creative accomplishments, or other professional activity.
The title Senior Lecturer SOE may be assigned to an appointee who
provides services of exceptional value to the
University and whose excellent teaching and professional
accomplishments have made him/her a recognized leader in
his or her professional field and/or in education.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent degree in an engineering or
management related discipline. A
demonstrated record of teaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Industry experience in the management of
technology. A record of service
demonstrating the ability to take on administrative responsibilities
to benefit the expansion and development of the
undergraduate TIM program. A record of professional contribution in
areas related to the management of technology
and/or information technology. The ability to take on teaching and
service responsibilities that benefit graduate
education.
