Dear colleagues,

The following is posted on behalf of the senior editor, apologies for cross-posting.

New Journal Introduction: A-Journal of Information Systems (A-JIS).

We are proud to announce the launch of a new journal – A-Journal of Information Systems (A-JIS), effective today. Over the past decades, journal publication success has become the sine qua non of academic practice. Researchers and research institutions alike are measured and ranked based on their success in publishing in A-level journals. A-journal publication counts have become the gold standard for measuring academic quality. At the same time, researchers often find themselves in situations where they urgently need the elusive next A-journal publication to fulfill the requirements of their chair, dean or promotion committee.

We are launching A-JIS to deliberately address this need. It is no secret that perception shapes reality. Oftentimes, journals that are rated highly in the latest ranking do well and attract high numbers of submissions as a result, in turn boasting high rejection rates displaying journal quality. A-JIS intends to capitalize on this phenomenon. Being named the “A-Journal” of Information Systems will give authors who are published in the journal every right to claim “A-Journal publication success”. As a result we expect the journal to become highly sought after in a short period of time.

A-JIS will be broad in its scope. A-JIS will publish any research that is broadly located in Information Systems and any adjacent field. More importantly, A-JIS aims to be a contemporary journal that takes a strictly instrumental and economical approach to publishing. This translates into a number of practices intended to streamline reviewing and make A-Journal publication success more predictable:

* A-JIS will publish detailed scripts for carrying out research projects of different methodological nature (e.g. theory testing, grounded theory, or design science approaches) in order to facilitate more effective paper write-up.
* Similarly, straight-forward manuscript templates will allow reviewers to be more economical with their time, applying a rigorous, valid and more reproducible tick-and-cross approach to paper assessment.
* The editors would like to remind authors that papers closely adhering to both project script and manuscript template will be likely to yield both higher review pipeline throughput and publication success rates.
* A-JIS will establish a platform that allows authors to bid for reviewing slots, hence providing the means to “jump the queue” in cases where A-Journal publication success is particularly urgent.
* A-JIS will follow a rigorous, yet controlled, self-citation policy in order to boost impact factors.
* Finally, A-JIS will be published online as an open access journal and deploy manual labor resources, big data analytics, and sophisticated search engine optimization techniques to improve its citation coverage.
