Location: LUISS Guido Carli-University, Rome, Italy

Doctoral students in Information Systems from ERCIS member institutions,
but also non-ERCIS members are invited to attend the first doctoral
colloquium (DC) of the ERCIS network.
The ERCIS – European Research Center for Information Systems – is an
international network of scientists, conducting cooperative research in the
field of Information Systems. Throughout Europe and beyond, currently 21
associated research institutes for Information Systems are integrated in
the ERCIS network.

DC faculty consists of professors from ERCIS member institutions across
Europe. The following professors have agreed to serve as DC faculty on
September 8th – 10th:
- Joerg Becker, University of Muenster, DE
- Daniel Beverungen, University of Muenster, DE
- Alessio Maria Braccini, LUISS Guido Carli University, IT
- Andreja Pucihar, University of Maribor, SI
- Paolo Spagnoletti, LUISS Guido Carli University, IT
- Jan vom Brocke, University of Liechtenstein, FL
- Fons Wijnhoven, University of Twente, NL
- Axel Winkelman, University of Wuerzburg, DE
- Robert Winter, University of St. Gallen, CH

The consortium aims to provide multi-perspective feedback for doctoral
dissertation projects, ideally in the middle (2nd or 3rd year) of their
dissertation projects.
A maximum of 24 doctoral students will be presenting and discussing their
research projects in small groups together with experienced supervisors.

Doctoral students are expected to
(a) apply to be admitted to the DC with a one-page summary paper of their
dissertation project, their CV and a (very short) support statement of
their supervisor until June 15th, 2014
(b) after being admitted by June 22nd, 2014, submit a five to ten page
dissertation paper until July 15th, 2014. The dissertation paper shall
summarize motivation, related work, problem statement/research gap,
proposed research approach and time frame. It should also address certain
required elements (e.g. selection and documentation of cases or
validation/evaluation of research results) according to the request of the
DC faculty.
(c) provide peer reviews of two other dissertation papers submitted to this
DC (provided by July 15) until September 1st, 2014
(d) attend the doctoral consortium on September 8th – 10th, present and
discuss their papers in 60 minute sessions (30 minutes presentation, 30
minutes discussion)
(e) attend a general dissertation Q&A session together with DC faculty on
September 10th.

Upon successful attendance, i.e. if all specified requirements are
fulfilled, the ERCIS DC will issue an attendance certificate. This
certificate will include the program, the faculty and the estimated effort.
It can be used to have the DC participation credited towards doctoral
studies at the home University of the participant.

There will be no charge for attending the DC. Participants will however
need to cover travel and accommodation costs with own funds.

All DC-related communication is to be directed to
