The University of Sydney Business School is seeking to make a new
appointment in Business Information Systems at the Lecturer or Senior
Lecturer level (Levels B/C).

The Discipline of Business Information Systems
(http://sydney.edu.au/business/information_systems) was established in
2002. We are a multidisciplinary team with a strong commitment to
practice-based, industry-relevant teaching and research. Our research
interests cover topics such as information systems strategy; business
analysis and business process management; enterprise systems and business
intelligence; information policy, risk, assurance and governance;
enterprise social media and digital disruption; project management. We
share a strong interest in interpretivist, qualitative research
approaches, although members of the discipline use a wide range of
research methods. The discipline offers a major in Business Information
Systems in the school's Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program,
specialisations in BIS and Project Management in the Master of Commerce
(MCom) and various course offerings in a range of Postgraduate and
Management Education degree programs, including MBA, Master of
Professional Accounting and Master of Management.

is regarded as a leader in the region, and is one of the very few
Australian schools to hold business and accounting accreditation from
AACSB International and EQUIS accreditation from the European Foundation
for Management Development. It is also the only Australian member school
of CEMS, the Community of European Management Schools & International
Companies. The Business School has an outstanding international reputation
in management research, learning, development of resources, and journal
publishing and works in close cooperation with industry, government and
the not-for-profit sectors. From 2015 it will be situated in a new $180m
state-of-the-art learning environment which, in the highly competitive
global market for business education, will further enhance its ability to
attract the best and brightest students, staff and researchers from around
the world.

The successful applicant will contribute to:
- the research strengths of the school, including the pursuit of
competitive research grants and regular publication in journals of high
national and international standing,
- the school's expanding program of professional and industry research
collaboration, with a focus on the school¹s core research areas and
existing research groups,
- the effective teaching in business information systems, curriculum
development and the enhancement of teaching methodology,
- the school’s engagement with professional bodies in order to develop
innovative teaching programs that enhance the student learning experience
and their employability,
- the supervision of higher degree research students,
- academic administration and service activities.

To be successful as a Lecturer (Level B) you will possess:
- a PhD in business information systems or a related field (completed or
under examination)
- the demonstrated ability to achieve research outcomes with refereed
publications in information systems (IS)
- the demonstrated ability to contribute to high quality teaching in one
or more of the discipline¹s key areas
- expertise in one or more of the key areas of business information
systems, in particular: business analysis; enterprise systems;
and project management
- a demonstrated IS theoretical and methodological background, and
familiarity with interpretivist, qualitative research approaches
- evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach
- ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in English.

To be successful as a Senior Lecturer (Level C) you will possess:
- a PhD in business information systems or a related field
- an active program of research in business information systems
- an established record of high quality refereed journal publications in IS
- the demonstrated ability to carry out high quality teaching in one or
more of the discipline¹s key areas
- expertise in one or more of the key areas of business information
systems, in particular: business analysis; enterprise systems;
project management
- a strong IS theoretical and methodological background, in particular in
interpretivist, qualitative research approaches
- evidence of successful teamwork and a collegial approach
- course and program development experience
- leadership skills, administrative experience and evidence of service
contributions
- ability to communicate technical concepts effectively in English.

Remuneration package
- Lecturer: $107,679 to $127,867 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Level B $90,990 to $108,049 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s
contribution to superannuation)
- Senior Lecturer: $131,902 to $151,955 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Level C $111,459 to $128,520 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer’s
contribution to superannuation).

A salary supplement may be negotiated with the successful applicant. The
level of appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
