FACULTY POSITION IN DATA SCIENCE
CENTER FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS & TECHNOLOGY

The Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) (http://is.cgu.edu)
at Claremont Graduate University (CGU)invites nominations and applications for
a tenure-track or tenured faculty member specialized in Data Science with
interests in areas such as Big Data, Data Analytics, Data Mining, and Software
Design. The appointment will commence either in January or July 2015.

Job Qualifications: Candidates must have or will soon have a doctoral degree;
a strong record of scholarship; interest in diverse teaching approaches,
students, and populations; and the ability to work with practitioners to
arrange and oversee practicums and internships in the focus areas. Specific
technical knowledge of core database platforms as well as data analysis and
mining techniques is required. The successful candidate also will demonstrate
experience and/or capacity for advising a diverse student body.

Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching, research, and field
interests focus on innovative use of data in areas such as business, health,
social media/networks, and e-learning., Knowledge of other data analytic
platforms, software design techniques, and/or teaching experience in one or
more of the focus areas is a plus.

The position will include responsibility for teaching graduate courses in
CISAT's master's and PhD programs, conducting research for publication,
supervising doctoral students and participating in CGU's university-wide Big
Data initiative. Depending on research interests, an opportunity exists for the
faculty member to interface with other CGU programs and schools in the areas of
management, social sciences, public health, public policy, and education.
