Internet of Anything

Submission deadline: 1 October 2014
Publication: May/June 2015

Ubiquitous connectivity is transforming our world into an Internet of
Anything (IoA). This IoA subsumes the Internet of Everything (IoE), the
Industrial Internet (II), the Internet of Things (IoT), cyber-physical
systems (CPS), and cyber-biological systems (CBS).

Cyber, physical, and biological worlds are becoming increasingly interlinked
through CPS and CBS, creating the current IoT. IoE links things, data,
people, and processes; II introduces intelligent industrial data. IoA,
however, suggests contextually and semantically integrated information. IoA
envisions a common software "ecosystem" capable of accommodating any and all
sensor inputs, system states, operating conditions, and data contexts - an
overarching "Internet Operating System."

This issue of IT Professional aims to provide a snapshot of the
opportunities and ongoing advances in the IoA. We seek submissions on all
aspects of the IoA, including, but not limited to, the following:

. Smart utility grids

. Smart mass transportation

. Smart buildings, factories & homes

. Smart medical technologies

. Next-generation air traffic control

. Robots and drones

. Advanced retail and commerce

. Advanced vehicles

. IoA and cloud computing

. IoA and mobile computing

. IoA and big data analytics

. IoA technological trends

. IoA impact of policies, standards, and regulations

. Impact of IoA on IT industry and IT professionals

. IoA education and training

. IoA case studies
