HICSS Workshop (Half Day) January 5th
Academic Integrity Research – Can We Change the Culture?

Part of the Forty-Eighth Annual Hawai'i International Conference on Systems Sciences (HICSS)
Kauai - January 5 - 8, 2015

We cordially invite you to the Academic Integrity Workshop at this year’s HICSS Conference (January 5th). This workshop will provide participants with a forum to further Academic Integrity research in order to effect changes toward higher education academic honesty. This workshop is designed to describe research opportunities in Academic Integrity as well as explore successful methods for implementing Academic Integrity programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels. An ongoing Academic Integrity initiative at the University of Arkansas and Kansas State University has employed a variety of methods and techniques for implementing programs and systematically collecting, processing, and analyzing data relating to student perceptions and impact on their broader set of ethics. Participants will discuss the issues, approaches, and methods involved in implementing a programmatic approach to educating students regarding academic integrity, effect changes in culture, and how to conduct supporting research in this area. Each of the workshop leaders will have short presentations on their respective areas of implementation and research, noting important issues as well as concerns and challenges. Following each presentation, facilitated discussions are planned. The session leaders will provide time during the discussions so other participants can discuss the challenges they are facing with their academic integrity programs and research. The session will conclude with a discussion and deliberation on a research agenda for the community. Plans for a special issue in a leading IS journal will also be discussed.

Topics include:
•	Academic Integrity Programs
•	Acquiring Tools to Facilitate Academic Integrity (e.g. RAISE)
•	Opportunities for Academic Integrity data collection
•	Methods for collecting and processing data
•	Special problems in cultural expectations
