Professor of Information Systems: Assistant Level

Boston College is recruiting for a tenure track position at the Assistant level in Information Systems beginning September 2015. In exceptional cases, a higher-level appointment may be considered.

The University: Boston College is a coeducational university with an average student population of 9,100 undergraduate and 4,500 graduate students, representing every state and more than 85 countries. Founded in 1863, it is one of the oldest Jesuit, Catholic universities in the United States. US News & World Report ranks Boston College 31st among national universities. The University's Carroll School of Management offers nationally ranked undergraduate, full-time MBA and part-time MBA programs. The school also offers highly regarded degree programs in Finance (MSF and Ph.D.) and Organizational Studies (Ph.D.). Boston College's 150-acre main campus is located in an open suburban setting six miles from downtown Boston. The University's $1.6 billion endowment ranks as one of the nation's 40 largest.

The Position: We are seeking a candidate that has a robust research agenda and a dedication to teaching excellence. Boston College offers faculty members a standard 2-2 teaching load, which is often reduced by one course for research active faculty. Preparations are limited and matched to the candidate’s strengths and interests. Faculty are sought to contribute to a successful and expanding Information Systems department. Ideal candidates would be able to teach one or more of the following: Introduction to IS, Systems Analysis and Design, or Business Analytics. Current faculty have research interests related to IT business value, adoption and diffusion of IT innovations, E-business, IT strategy, social media and social networks, healthcare IT, IT security, and human computer interfaces. We seek individuals who can complement and strengthen the research focus of our group, while adding to the atmosphere of collegiality and openness to collaboration. We offer a stimulating environment, an exceptional student body, an active and responsive alumni base, and close ties to the Boston business and academic communities.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Information Systems, a demonstrated ability to conduct “A” journal quality research, and evidence of teaching excellence (or the ability to develop such excellence).

The Carroll School of Management is an Equal Opportunity/ Affirmative Action Employer that strongly encourages applications from women and minorities. We will be conducting interviews by teleconference and at the ICIS conference in Auckland, NZ. Please submit application in electronic form at http://apply.interfolio.com/25491. Please include a cover letter, a vita, contact information for three references, and samples of your research. Questions can be directed by email to Cate Jones at cate.jones at bc.edu. For full consideration, please submit all materials by October 1, 2014.
