International Workshop on Decision Making and Recommender Systems 2014

  September 18-19, 2014, Bozen-Bolzano, Italy.

**********************************************************

Deadline for Poster Submissions: 24th August, 2014

Background and Scope
=======================
While most research in recommender systems is conducted in recommendation
techniques, which boils down to rating prediction algorithms, there is still
too little discussion on the impact of the supported user interaction and
its effect on the decision making behaviors that are enabled and supported.
User interactions and decision-making are however critical in recommender
system research. Hence it is important to design the interaction while
understanding its impact on the user decision-making behavior and heuristic
in order to support an effective process. Therefore with this workshop we
aim to go beyond recommendation techniques and algorithm evaluations and
further merit the research attention from both recommender systems and human
factor.

This workshop aims to bring researchers and practitioners together from user
interaction, decision-making and recommender system research communities,
especially focusing on integrating research interests across different
communities. Also, we aim to provide a platform for discussing approaches,
models, research results and case studies addressing a broad range of issues
related to recommender system and user interaction. We are specifically
interested in discussing the interdisciplinary research challenges and
emerging research directions.

We have invited a list of high-profile speakers, addressing the
interdisciplinary and relevant topics. More information can be found at
http://dmrsworkshop.inf.unibz.it/workshopprogram.html

Poster submissions
=================
We call for extended abstracts, and hands-on demonstrations. All submissions
will be reviewed by the conference organisers. While promoting the
presentation of novel, even if, not completely validated ideas and theories.
Hence, preference will be given to innovative, truly interdisciplinary work,
bridging the research gap between recommender system and user decision
making.

Each submission should be max 2 pages plus the references. The submissions
should be formatted using Springer LNCS Format
Submission Deadline: 24th, August 2014
The notification will be on a rotating basis, early submission is therefore
encouraged.

Please submit your contributions to

Call for Participation
=================
In addition to poster presenters, we have a very limited number of places
for participating to the workshop (free of charge).
In order to apply for the participation, please submit a Letter of
Motivation to participate this workshop. In this letter, Motivation and
Relevance of your work to this workshop should be clearly specified. A brief
CV should be attached together with this letter.

The Letter of Motivation and your CV should be submitted in one pdf file by
email to Francesco Ricci (fricci At unibz.it) and Mouzhi Ge (mouzhi.ge At
