In response to many requests, the deadline for submissions to the BI,
DSS,& Analytics Research Track at Pre-ICIS workshop, NZ, 2014 has been
extended to September 15, 2014.

We invite the submission of manuscripts to the Research Track in Business
Intelligence (BI), Decision Support (DS), and Analytics organized by SIG
Decision Support and Analytics (SIGDSA) at the Pre-ICIS Conference to be
held on Sunday December 14, 2014 at the University of Auckland Business
School, Auckland, New Zealand.

Keeping with the "Building a Better World through Information Systems"
theme of the ICIS conference, the Pre-ICIS SIGDSA workshop seeks
forward-thinking research in the areas of analytics, collaboration and
decision support with special focus on business intelligence and social
media.

Business Intelligence (BI)/ Decision Support (DS)/ Analytics have become
core to many businesses. The social media scape has come to modify and
redefine not only businesses but also societal behavior and practices.
Although addressed by research in the past few years, these domains are
still evolving. For instance, the explosive growth in big data and social
media analytics requires examination of the impact of these technologies
and applications on business and society. Similarly, traditional
approaches to collaboration and decision support are experiencing
evolution and growth from BI and social media technologies and trends. As
organizations in various sectors formulate IT strategies and investments,
it is imperative to understand how various emerging technologies under the
BI/DS umbrella such as big data, mobile and wireless technologies, cloud
computing, and recent collaboration tools can be used effectively for
decision making in these organizations.

This research track aims to promote theoretical, design science,
behavioral research and emerging applications in innovative areas of
analytics, collaboration and decision support. We seek comprehensive
completed research and research-in-process (RIP) papers in topics
including but not limited to:
Design and Development of Decision Support Models and Tools, such as

--- Data-driven Decision Support: reporting analytics; data modeling and
database design; data warehousing; OLAP and executive support; big data
and large scale data storage; in-memory analytics; data visualization and
analytics.

--- Knowledge-driven Decision Support: data mining and management expert
systems applications; Application of knowledge management technologies
such as text mining, data mining, rule-based systems, semantic web
technologies to address specific decision support needs; mobile
technologies.

--- Model-driven Decision Support and Predictive Analytics: model
formulation, "what if?" analysis, model versioning and maintenance, model
management in cloud computing and mobile technology environments.

--- Document-driven Decision Support: knowledge coding, analysis, search
and retrieval for decision support for a variety of devices (e.g.,
tablets, smartphones).

--- Communications-driven and Group Decision Support: impact of computer,
collaboration and communication technologies in supporting group tasks
including decision making; impact of social media on group decision
making; socio-technical gaps in decision support systems.

Decision Outcomes and Performance Evaluation: effects of using decision
technologies, designing for improved decision performance; metrics for
data warehousing, BI, and analytics.

Decision Support User Interface Design: standards, features of decision
support user interface; impact of tablets and smart phones on usage.

Decision Support Applications: Impacts of computerized decision support in
businesses and organizations; real-time decision support; context-aware
decision support; SaaS and BI (cloud computing); social media, Web 2.0 and
BI; inter-organizational BI.

* Objectives are clear and well-described.
* Paper is clearly written.
* Paper is well organized and flows logically.
* Literature review is appropriate.
* Methodology (or proposed methodology) is appropriate.
* Analyses are appropriate.
* Evidence supports authors' arguments.
* Paper makes contributions to the field, or has potential for
contributions.

Page Limit Requirements: Full research papers must not exceed 14 pages --
and research-in-progress papers must not exceed 7 pages. All submissions
must conform to the ICIS 2014 submission template (available at
http://icis2014.aisnet.org/index.php/submissions/paper-submission) and
follow the instructions document. The page limit must include all text,
figures, and tables. The cover page, abstract, keywords, and references
are excluded from this page count. Please use the template provided on the
workshop website.

During the conference, select research-in-progress papers will be
discussed in a round table format to help shape the research for future
publication success and strong impact.

All accepted papers will be published in the Pre-ICIS SIGDSA workshop
proceedings. Authors will retain copyright ownership. Quality papers will
be selected for publication in the Information Systems Frontiers in a
Special Issue on "Building a Better World through Information Systems"
(Springer); however, they will be subject to further review and editing as
determined by the book editors.
