The 25th Australasian  Conference on Information Systems invites nominations to the 2014 Doctoral Consortium which will be held from Saturday 6th December to Sunday 7th December, 2014. (Registration and introductions commence late afternoon Friday 5th December).

ACIS2014 Doctoral Consortium - Call for Nominations
The ACIS Doctoral Consortium offers a forum in which PhD students can obtain feedback on their research from leading scholars in the discipline, get to know peers and their research from other universities, and gain exposure to the academic and research career and pathways, after the PhD. Successful nominees are expected to attend the full Consortium.

Eligibility
Ph.D. students currently working on an Information Systems thesis are eligible to be nominated. Participation in the Doctoral Consortium is by invitation only. Students who are mid-way through in the programme or those who have already defended their PhD proposals are encouraged to apply. Those students who have a research design plan in place will tend to benefit more from faculty mentors' guidance than those who are very early in the programme. The focus of the mentors will be on assisting participating students with critiques, and tips on moving their work forward and dealing with traps and pitfalls along the way.

Selection process
There are limited places available. Participation will be restricted to 20 students. Due to a restriction on the number of places, normally only one student from each organisational unit in a university will be accepted into the programme. In the event of more than one nominee from a single institution, the nominating institution will be required to rank the nominees. All first-ranked nominees will have an equal chance against other first-ranked or sole nominees. A second-ranked nominee would only be considered after all first-ranked/sole nominees. The assessment will be based on a review of the proposal and other nomination information by the Faculty Mentors. Participants will be selected based on the following:

  *   the quality of proposed research
  *   significance of the research and the potential contribution
  *   the potential contribution the student can make to the Doctoral Consortium

Documents needed for submission
Nominees are required to submit the three documents listed below.

(1)    Nominee information sheet: Students complete the information sheet and submit it along with the other two documents mentioned below.
(2)    PhD thesis proposal: The proposal should have a maximum of 10 A4 pages (10pt Times New Roman, single space, including references). The page limit must be adhered to be considered. This proposal should include the thesis title,  a brief description of the context of the research, the research question to be addressed, rationale for the research, an associated summary of key literature, the theoretical foundations of the research, research model and proposed hypotheses (if applicable). It should also describe the proposed or current research method and expected contribution.
(3)    Nomination letter from the nominating faculty. Normally, the nominating faculty should be the Dean, Head of Department/School or the Director of PhD programme. Alternatively, if these persons are not available, the nominee's Dissertation Advisor may nominate the student.

Cost:
There is no registration fee to attend the consortium. However, other costs such as travel and accommodation are not covered. Nominating institutions are expected to provide financial assistance to successful nominees to help with these expenses.

Please note: All accepted students to the Consortium are encouraged to register for and attend the ACIS 2014 conference which immediately follows the Consortium. All students will receive a reduced registration rate for the conference. This will cover attendance at all conference sessions and exhibits, conference lunches/refreshment breaks, the welcome reception and conference dinner.

Submission process
Nominee documents must be submitted via the ACIS2014 submission system<https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=acis20140>. Make sure you choose the "Doctoral Consortium" track.  The EasyChair system only accepts ONE file to be uploaded to the system so nominees will need to put all the three documents together into one file. The nominee can then upload their document which can be altered, re-uploaded or deleted. Once the nominee "submits" their document to the system, it can no longer be changed, edited, or revised.

Notification of acceptance: 15th October 2014
Doctoral consortium dates: 6th - 7th December 2014
