At the ICA Annual Conference 2014, Girona, Spain, 13-15 October 2014 Julie McLeod<https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/about-us/our-staff/m/julie-mcleod/>, Professor of Records Management in the iSchool at Northumbria was presented with the 2014 Leahy Award. It was presented to her by by Dr Anne Thurston, Director of the International Records Management Trust. It's the most prestigious award in the records archives field and past winners represent the most distinguished leaders in the field - practitioners and academics.

The Leahy Award Committee based its decision on Julie's sustained leadership especially in:
*        Raising the calibre and status of the records management profession by the creation of   undergraduate and graduate programs as well as by her leadership of the internationally respected, peer-reviewed Records Management Journal<http://emeraldgrouppublishing.com/products/journals/journals.htm?id=rmj> (published by Emerald Group Publishing)
*        Improving the knowledge base of records and information management through creative, empirically based research and publications;
*        Educating and training records and information management professionals in the UK and internationally.
