The IT University of Copenhagen seeks a PhD student for a project in Enterprise Social Media

Enterprise Social Media in the Financial Services Industry seeks a talented PhD student with a strong background in information or business systems or other field directly relevant to the research topic, to be supervised by Professor Roman Beck.

This project investigates the micro foundations of productivity in electronic networks of practice. Organizational knowledge is one of enterprises' most valuable assets. Therefore, many organizations invest in enterprise social media (ESM) to establish electronic networks of practice and foster knowledge exchange among employees. ESMs improve interaction transparency and can be regarded as socio-technical systems that provide a language for communication and symbolic action as well as a better sense of others' attitude and emotional status. This project we will focus on the importance of emotional dimensions in corporate organizational life as a prerequisite of knowledge exchange and ultimately, productivity. This research project focuses particularly on positive emotions as they have been shown to have positive effects on problem-solving capability, knowledge exchange and productivity. The project will be conducted in cooperation with an industry partner.
