 *The Center for Health Information and Decision Systems* (CHIDS), located
in the Department of Operations & Information Technologies (DO&IT) at the
Robert H. Smith School of Business, invites applications for a *postdoctoral
position in Health Information Systems Research.  *CHIDS has a vibrant
research agenda focused on improving the processes, quality, and outcomes
of healthcare through the introduction and integration of information and
decision technologies into the health care system.  Research conducted in
the center is multidisciplinary and applies multiple methods, both
quantitative and qualitative, to analyze, plan, and experiment with
policies and practices in healthcare.  Publication in high-quality
peer-reviewed outlets is expected.  CHIDS offers a nurturing environment
for mentorship, professional development and career growth from which a
successful applicant to this position may benefit.

College Park campus, the Robert H. Smith School of Business (Smith) is a

   - Quality and implementation
   - Digital health entrepreneurship and innovation research and translation

This is a one year contractual position. The successful applicant will be
interested in developing and advancing a scientific program of research in
one or more of these areas. The start date for the postdoctoral research
fellow is January 1, 2015.  Later start dates can be explored for the ideal
candidate. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:

60% - Develop and conduct high quality research to be published in top tier
journals

25% - Provide research design and technical assistance to investigators

15% - Apply for external funding opportunities

*Minimum Qualifications: *Candidates should have a Ph.D. already in hand or
firmly expected by *June 2015* in information systems or a relevant
discipline, demonstrated ability to publish in top academic journals, and
have a record of, or potential for excellent teaching (preferably at the
MBA level) and service.

*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*

   1. A thorough understanding of a range of research methods and paradigms.
   2. Evidence of an ability to develop a line of inquiry as an independent
   researcher who will be able to enhance national/international research
   capacity and add value in an area of existing research strength to CHIDS
   3. Demonstrable experience of writing papers for publication in academic
   journals, related to the specified area.
   4. A research and/or publication plan to be developed further with the
   help of the mentor.
   5. Potential to develop proposals for funded research in the field of
   the fellowship.
   6. The ability to contribute to teaching on appropriate courses at
   Masters /doctoral level.
   7. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate
   effectively.
   8. The ability to work as a member of a team.
   9. A commitment to an academic career in higher education or service.
