CFP: Open Government and Big Data Track at IFIP EGOV/ePart



The dual 14th IFIP Electronic Government and 7th e-Participation Conference (IFIP EGOV/ePart) 2015 will be held from Sunday, August 30 to Thursday, September 3, 2014 under the local auspices of the University of Macedonia, School of Information Sciences, Thessaloniki, Greece, ( http://www.uom.gr/ ) at the Electra Palace Hotel, Platia Aristotelous 9, Thessaloniki 546 24, Greece ( http://www.electrahotels.gr/electra-palace-hotel-thessaloniki/the-hotel )

TOPICS

The Open Government & Big Data Track focuses on practices and methods of transparency, accountability, public big data sharing, data for improving public value and data analytics. The explosive growth in data, the opening of data, data provide by the Internet of Things and increasing computational power creates new opportunities for innovating government. These developments resulted in a repertoire of instruments and tools to gather, process, analyse, visualize and make use of the huge amount of data.

These changes have resulted in a shift between the government and the public and all need parties have entered this field. This has resulted in the development of all kind of applications to deal with societal issues and creating more transparency and accountability, technical challenges, information quality, implementation considerations, policy implications, among others).



Areas of focus and interest include but are not limited to the following topics:

¾     Smart Big data apps and dashboards for decision making

¾     Data processing, analyzing and visualization

¾     Data and information quality

¾     Data Science in government

¾     Predictive and pattern modeling on big and open linked data

¾     Software as service (SaaS), utility computing, shared services

¾     Service-oriented architectures, orchestration and composition

¾     Cloud computing in government

¾     Metadata, ontologies and semantic approaches

¾     Infrastructure and enterprise architecture planning

¾     Transparency and accountability

¾     Value of data and apps

¾     The Internet of Things from a big-data perspective



FORMATS



Across its tracks, the dual IFIP EGOV/ePart 2015 conference hosts three distinct formats of contributions:



·         Completed research papers (max. 12 pages, published in the IFIP EGOV proceedings of Springer LNCS)

·         Ongoing research and innovative projects (max. 8 pages, published in alternate proceedings by a IOS Press)



Beyond the tracks, the dual IFIP EGOV/ePart 2015 conference also hosts



·         Posters (max. 2 pages), to be exposed along the welcome reception on Tuesday evening

·         Workshops and panels on pertinent issues, short abstracts (2 pages), and

·         PhD colloquium submissions

(to be included in the alternate proceedings published by IOS Press)



These formats encourage both, scientific rigor and discussions of state of the art as well as innovative research approaches, work in progress, and studies of practical e-government or e-governance projects along with papers on system implementations.



Prior to the conference (that is, on Sunday and Monday, August 30 and 31), a PhD student colloquium will be held providing doctoral students with an international forum guided by senior scholars for presenting their work, networking opportunities and cross-disciplinary inspiration. ·         April 15, 2015-Submission of workshop/panel/poster/PhD colloquium contributions

·         April 30, 2015-Notification of acceptance/rejection decisions for papers

·         May 15, 2015 - Notification of acceptance for workshops/panels/posters/PhD colloquium contributions

·         May 31, 2015-Camera-ready papers of completed research, of ongoing research/PhD colloquium papers, posters, workshop and panel descriptions
