Mini‐track: Online Education: Issues and Opportunities

Description

The landscape of higher education continues to evolve as an ever-growing number of institutions offer online education via fully online or blended programs. Enrollments in online programs of all types have risen steadily over the last decade with as many as 32% percent of all U.S college students taking at least one online course .  Online education may well hold keys to opening educational doors for a vast and under-served global population, however, many obstacles to efficient and effective online education remain.  

We invite papers that shed insights into all aspects of online education. Empirical, theoretical, or position papers are welcome. Topics of interests include, but are not limited to, the following:

•    Online learning models and pedagogy
•    Technological advancements that support online education
•    Student, faculty and institutional impacts of online education
•    Student, faculty and societal perceptions of online education
•    Mobile learning
•    Evaluation and assessment of student achievement in online contexts
•    Best practices
•    Issues and challenges
•    Future trends
•    Student engagement 
•    Plagiarism
•    Management of online educational programs
•    Challenges creating online educational programs (ex: contracts and pricing, negotiation, scalability, service and learning material  customization, online program curriculum design accreditation)

Important dates:

•    January 5, 2015: Manuscript submissions for AMCIS 2015 begin
•    February 25, 2015: Deadline for AMCIS manuscript submissions 
•    Tuesday, April 21, 2015: Authors notified about the disposition of their papers
•    Tuesday, April 28, 2015:  Deadline for camera-ready revisions 
•    May 5, 2015: Final decisions on AMCIS 2015 program are made
