Two quick announcements regarding the 2015 APEX Business-IT Global Case Challenge:

1) The pre-registration deadline has been extended to 20th February 2015. Pre-registration is quick and easy -- to assist our planning, please let us know if you are interested in sending a team, even if you are not yet ready to commit or make payment.

2) We are delighted to announce that this year's theme (and topic of the case) will be Population Health.

The APEX Business-IT Global Case Challenge is an annual undergraduate case competition hosted by the School of Information Systems at Singapore Management University.

Each year, the competition revolves around an original 'live' case which explores how information technology can be used in innovative ways to meet strategic business challenges. Recent themes have included social media analytics, cloud computing, and green IT. Held in the bustling city of Singapore, APEX Business-IT draws talented 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students from leading universities around the world for an exciting and inspiring 5-day event.

We cordially invite you to join us for the next instalment of APEX Business-IT, which will be held on 4-8 May 2015.

*** CASE THEME FOR 2015: POPULATION HEALTH ***

According to McKinsey & Company, healthcare is now the world's largest industry -- with a value and cost three times greater than the banking sector. Faced with constant pressure to improve service standards and lower costs, medical professionals are increasingly shifting from a traditional service delivery model to one that focuses on improving health outcomes at the population level, often through programs delivered outside of traditional settings such as hospitals and clinics. With limited resources at their disposal and an array of challenges due to social, economic and demographic forces, how can the healthcare industry apply the principles of population health to improve health outcomes and well-being? What role can IT play in this important industry transformation?

Key highlights of the event include:

*** Thematic Workshop ***

The competition begins with an informative session in which a panel of industry experts discuss our competition theme, providing background information relevant to the case and introducing participants to leading-edge applications of IT in that particular field. The panel discussion is followed by an interactive showcase of projects related to the competition theme.

*** Competition Rounds ***

Upon receiving the case, teams will be given 24 hours to deliberate and craft their solutions to the problems identified in the case. Each team will have at least 3 opportunities to impress our panel of highly qualified industry judges with their solutions.

*** Social Events ***

APEX Business-IT also provides ample opportunities for networking with students from a wide variety of cultures, including a Welcome Dinner at the beginning of the week and a festive Gala Dinner where we celebrate newly-forged friendships and of course, announce the winners of the competition.
