Digital innovation has given rise to many different phenomena, from business models that decouple production of value from earning of income, to crowdsourcing and online networks or communities formed around specific interests. Of special importance has lately been the commercialization of social interaction achieved by social media platforms. Taken together these changes seem to signal a deep going change that has diverse and far reaching organizational, social and economic consequences. This year's SSIT workshop will focus discussion on the underpinning processes of digital innovation and the significance of emerging social and economic changes. It will also discuss what changes of Information Systems teaching, research and practice may be adopted to respond to the advent of digital innovation.
