[AISWorld] Call for Chapters: Engineering Secure Internet of Things Systems

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a new emerging paradigm that aims at creating connectivity for "anything" that can carry a minimum amount of storage and computational power, such that "connected things" can collaborate anytime, anywhere and in any form to improve the quality of everyday life and open up new business opportunities.  The IoT has grown in recent years to encompass applications in almost every domain of life; most notably in the domains of personal health care, transportation and vehicular connectivity, industrial embedded systems, enterprise businesses using wireless sensor networks and any services with utility monitoring as well as traditional areas of avionics, space industries and national defence.  As such "global applications" will be collecting more and more of private and sensitive data about our lives, they will require increasing degrees of reliability and trustworthiness in terms of the levels of assurance provided with respect to properties such as confidentiality, integrity and availability.

The current book addresses state-of-the-art research in engineering secure IoT systems with a focus on the most pressing current issues and solutions that with long-term impact in the area. These solutions cover models, mechanisms, technologies, and architectures that will render future generations of IoT systems more secure, dependable and trustworthy. The impact is also expected to extend to future IoT standards, including protocol standards such as MQTT, CoAPP and XMPP, where more secure and robust versions of these will start emerge. Finally, the book is also intended to cover the soft side of security including the social, legal and economic aspects of security in the context of IoT systems.

Scope
Contributions must represent mature research works, which could be either original or extended versions of earlier works.  Contributions are sought in any area overlapping IoT, security and software engineering, including, but not limited to, the following areas:

*         Case studies from industry

*         Cryptographic solutions for the IoT

*         Federated identity management in IoT systems

*         Formal models and foundations for the IoT

*         Model-driven security engineering of IoT systems

*         Privacy and anonymity in IoT systems

*         Risk models controlling the configuration and deployment of IoT systems

*         Secure IoT architectures, protocols and platforms

*         Security patterns and standards for the IoT

*         Security policies and access control for the IoT

*         Social, legal and economic aspects of security in IoT systems

*         Verification and analysis of security properties in the IoT

Book Readership
The book will primarily target academic researchers and researchers working in industry who are interested in the topic of security in the context of IoT and large scale systems. The book will also be of interest to professional managers and members of technical standardisation bodies (e.g. OASIS, W3C), who may have a technical background but currently are involved more with the standardisation of IoT technologies and solutions.

Submission Procedure
Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit a chapter proposal of no more than 1000 words (maximum 2 A4 pages) including references by 15 May 2015.  The proposal should explain the mission and concern of the chapter as well as outline clearly its contributions. Authors will be notified by 1 June 2015 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines.  Full chapters, of no more than 20 A4 pages, are expected to be submitted by 1 October 2015, which will undergo a full review.  Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project and their names will be acknowledged in the book.  Chapter review notifications will be sent by 1 December 2016, and the final corrected chapter versions will be due by 1 February 2016.  The book is expected to be published by the IET by 1 October 2016.  Submissions should be made directly by email to Benjamin Aziz (benjamin.aziz at port.ac.uk).
