[AISWorld] NSF Workshop on "Big Data and Privacy"

The Fox School of Business at Temple University will be hosting a "Privacy in an Era of Big Data<http://www.fox.temple.edu/nsfworkshop/>" workshop (www.fox.temple.edu/nsfworkshop<http://www.fox.temple.edu/nsfworkshop>), sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Big Data Institute this Wednesday, April 22 and Thursday, April 23, 2015. The workshop's overall goal is to develop a forward-looking research agenda on the tradeoff between big data and privacy to effectively pursue the potential of big data without sacrificing people's individual privacy rights. The workshop will examine how privacy may be affected by the Big Data era with emphasis on implications for individuals, organizations, government, and society in general. Plenary sessions and panels will feature several keynote speakers from industry, government, and academia, including Frank Baitman<http://www.hhs.gov/asa/bio/bio-baitman.html>, Chief Information Officer, Department of Health and Human Services, Patrick Dowd, Director's Science Advisor and Chief Technical Officer, NSA, Ashkan Soltani, Chief Technologist, Federal Trade Commission, Christina Peters<http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/biography/39129.wss>, Chief Privacy Officer, IBM, and Hal Varian, Chief Economist, Google.
