Mission Statement
 The mission of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business is to foster the development of capable business professionals who are responsible citizens grounded in a liberal arts education.



Primary Purpose of Position
The Management Information Systems program at Georgia College develops in-depth hands-on knowledge and skills in the application of information technology to problems and opportunities in business and society. Faculty are expected to support the liberal arts mission and the AACSB accreditation standards of learning, publishing and research.

Faculty are expected to meet the academic instructional needs of both graduate and undergraduate students who are majoring in the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs.



Key Functions and Related Job Duties



Key Function                      Faculty - Teaching/Instructing
The MIS Assistant Professor must teach graduate and undergraduate MIS courses in a face-to-face, hybrid, and online environment.



Key Function                      Faculty - Professional Development
The MIS Assistant Professor must stay current in the field and learn software/hardware required for us in the constantly changing MIS field.



Key Function                      Faculty - Service to Institution
Service to the institution is required of all faculty members. Faculty members represent to department on college committees or the college on university committees.



Key Function                      Faculty - Public Service
Public Service is an important part of being a Georgia College faculty member. it is expected that faculty members play a role in their community.



Key Function                      Faculty - Scholarship and Creative Activity
The MIS Professor must conduct and publish scholarly research in line with AACSB guidelines for maintaining status as a Scholarly Academic.

Minimum Requirements

Proposed Minimum Experience/Education
Applicants must have a terminal degree in Management Information Systems or related discipline.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))



Department Required Skills
Experience teaching online graduate classes. Experience teaching face-to-face undergraduate classes.



Preferences
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
Preference given to candidates with experience – teaching graduate classes using WebX.
 - in/knowledge of SAP.
 - using electronic Learning Management Systems.
 - teaching undergraduate/graduate level curriculum in database and Visual Basic.
 - five or more years of college teaching.
 - teaching at an AACSB accredited institution.

Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
