Introduction
Information systems security (infosec) research has piqued increasing attention amid IS researchers in recent years.
Interdisciplinary theories have been developed and validated on issues including: fear appeal, neutralization, general deterrence,
and protection motivation. At the same time, increasing effort has focused on leveraging technical advances to enhance business security.
Despite the availability of very powerful and extensive security tools, the number and severity of information security incidents is on the rise
and shows no signs of abating. Underlying reasons for the rising incidents may include both technical and behavioral issues.
Our interest includes security threats from both internal and external sources. This special issue solicits research submissions about
information systems security using novel theories and/or methods as well as research contexts that make a significant contribution to knowledge
in information systems security. Submissions that focus on the interplay of technical, behavioral, economic and/or organizational perspectives on
information security are especially welcome. Topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:

-Advanced theoretical development and validation towards the study of InfoSec-related behavior, with an emphasis on moving beyond the oft-studied deterrence and protection motivation theory perspectives
-Multilevel theoretical perspectives and analysis on InfoSec phenomena
-Studies of how technical security solutions are either improved or hindered by the cognitive, economic or organizational considerations
-New methodological approaches to the study of InfoSec phenomena, such as multilevel modeling and NeuroIS techniques
-Creative investigations of user security behavior, both positive and negative
-Detection and mitigation of insider threats
-Analysis of known and unknown modes and vectors of internal and external attack
-Theory development, theory building, and theory testing in infosec
-Analytical models of the attack and defense dynamics, including the game-theoretic models of strategic attacker behavior
-Studies of multi-stage and multi-target attacks
-Design and development of socio-technical security controls
