Dear List Manager,

I'd like to vote for Peter's proposal. The messages are often really extensive with all items and tracks and committee members listed. This is an issue with a mobile phone.

Happy Mothers' Day from Finland,

Raija Halonen
Adjunct Professor
University of Oulu

CFP- Social Media in Government HICSS- 2016
Governments have also discovered the potential of social media platforms
for sharing governmental information and outreach. Social media unite
several communication channels and enhance opportunities for citizens to
provide feedback to government officers and political representatives.
Guidelines for the use of online social networks and other social media are
relatively new in governmental agencies and many implementation challenges
still persist. Given that the demand for social media-based government
services is growing, issues related to privacy, information leakage,
blurred boundaries between private and public spheres, and government
surveillance must all be urgently addressed.
This minitrack is open to papers that cover all aspects of social media,
particularly in the context of citizen participation and electronic
government.

Minitrack topics include, but are not limited to:
* Case studies of the use of online social media and networks by any
level of government
* Social media and citizen participation
* Apps and Social media: implementation and challenges
* Relationship between online social media use and offline political
action
* Website information link with social media tools
* Predicting election and other political events with social media
*    Implementation challenges
* Maintaining privacy in online social media and other online networks
* Social media and networks for information sharing
* Social media and governance: troubles and challenges
* Social networks and 'information overload'
* Mobile and location-sensing media and governance
* Guidelines and policies for social media use
* Legal concerns when providing and sharing content via social media
* Online identities of civil servants

> MINITRACK DESCRIPTION
> Applications for mobile devices (apps) have facilitated the success
> of smartphones and tablet PCs. By using apps, the multi-purpose
> hardware of modern devices can be utilized to the full extent. Due to
> the proliferation of mobile devices as a tool for consumers,
> businesses increasingly embrace the topic. However, actually
> improving business processes or even finding a mobile strategy is not
> straightforward. Neither is the usage of so called business apps. In
> many cases, development of business apps is prone to problems and
> companies face technology choices they have little information for.
>
> Developing business apps poses specific requirements due to their
> business-critical nature. Compared to apps in general, higher quality
> standards should be met, apps need to be more secure and robust, and
> requirements need to be carefully engineered (and then met),
> according to industry standards. Testing of apps has been found to be
> very cumbersome. Whether (and to what extent) methods of classical
> software engineering can be applied still is matter of discussion.
> Moreover, new challenges such as development for multiple platforms,
> device fragmentation, context-sensitivity, performance issues,
> mobility-depended security issues and energy conservation arise.
> Therefore, new threads of research are needed to tackle these issues
> and pave the way for better business producibility.
>
> The minitrack is devoted to (business) apps development and the
> technological background of mobile computing for corporate or other
> domain-specific non-consumer usage. Topics of interests include (but
> are not limited to)
> o App development within a domain context
> o Economic and/or social impact of mobile computing
> o Make-or-buy decisions in app development
> o Engineering of apps for business processes
> o Requirements engineering for apps
> o Development methods for apps including the applicability of
> existing methods to app development
> o User interface (UI) design research for apps and the bridge to
> Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI) research
> o Internet of things (IoT) and apps
> o Testing of apps
> o Business models for apps
> o Cross-platform development
> o Webapps vs. native apps vs. hybrid apps
> o Responsiveness of apps for different device types (smartphone,
> tablet, desktop, wearables, etc.)
> o Business app security
> o Legal aspects of app development, distribution, and usage
> o Energy efficient computing on mobile devices
> o Enterprise distribution of apps and Mobile device management (MDM)
> o Sensor-usage for business apps

> Call for papers and reviewers - 26th Australasian Conference on
> Information Systems (ACIS 2015), Adelaide.
>
> For further information regarding the call for papers, please refer to the
> main conference web site at: https://acis2015.unisa.edu.au/
>
> The conference will include the following Tracks and though we encourage
> submissions that focus on one of these areas, we are open to submissions in
> other areas:
>
> * Social Media and Social Technologies for Organisations and
> Individuals
> * Health Informatics
> * IS Security, Cyber Crime and Digital Investigations
> * Information Systems and Future-focused Learning Environments
> * Electronic/Mobile Commerce and IT-enabled Supply Chain Management
> * Enterprise Systems Services and Management
> * Information Ethics, Professionalism and Society
> * Information Quality and Governance
> * IS in Supply Chain Management
> * Knowledge Management and IS
> * Diversity and Inclusion in the IT Workforce
> * Information Systems Development for a Connected World
> * Emerging Approaches for Decision Support Systems and Business
> Intelligence
> * General Track
>
> Full Research & Research-in-Progress Papers
>
> Full research and research-in-progress submissions may take the form of
> theoretical essays, formal analyses, technical discussions, and/or papers
> reporting on quantitative or qualitative empirical research. It is expected
> that full papers in these categories will include final (or in-progress)
> data analyses and documentation of results. Full research should be similar
> to journal submissions, but shorter (i.e. 10 A4 pages).
> Research-in-progress papers are the same as above but typically represent
> work that is incomplete, yet promising.
>
> They must be submitted to the conference track that best fits the topic
> area. ACIS 2015 recognises that the list of tracks is not an exhaustive one
> - nonetheless, ACIS 2015 asks that authors select the track that best fits
> the topic area. The Programme Co-Chairs may then shift a submission from
> one track to another, as they deem appropriate.
>
> Submission Format
>
> Language
> The language of the conference is English. All submissions must therefore
> be in English.
>
> Originality
> Submissions to ACIS2015 should not have been published previously in a
> journal or conference proceedings, nor presented at another conference, nor
> currently under review or consideration for publication or presentation
> elsewhere.
>
> Length and format
> The maximum length for all submissions is 10 A4 pages (Times New Roman
> 10pt), including references and appendices. All submissions must be in .DOC
> format and must use the ACIS 2015 submission template<
> https://acis2015.unisa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ACIS-template-2015.dotx>.
> An example can be found here<
> https://acis2015.unisa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ACIS-example.pdf>.
> This document also contains the general guidelines for formatting of all
> submissions.
>
> Anonymizing for Initial Review
> As all submissions will be double-blind reviewed, the author's names(s)
> and affiliation(s) should not be included anywhere in the document for the
> initial submission. If referring to articles or documents by the same
> author(s) these should be removed from the text and reference list, and
> replace with <removed for refereeing>.
>
> As it places a significant administrative burden on the conference
> organisers to ensure that your paper does not identify you as an author,
> and as this is central to the integrity of the double-blind review process,
> then failure to comply with these formatting requirements will result in
> rejection of your paper.
>
> How to Submit
> All submissions must be made via the ACIS2015 submission system<
> https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi>.<
> https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi> Author information,
> abstract, keywords and the main body of the submission will be uploaded
> separately in the review system. Authors can upload a manuscript which that
> can be altered, re-uploaded or deleted. Once an author "submits" a
> manuscript to the system, however, it can no longer be changed, edited, or
> revised.
>
> Please note: No duplicated submissions to different tracks will be
> accepted.
>
> Review Process
> All paper submissions will be pre-screened for conformity with the
> submission guidelines and overall appropriateness for the conference. Paper
> submissions that pass the initial screening will be evaluated in a
> double-blind peer review process. These include full research papers,
> research-in-progress papers, teaching cases, and practitioner reports. Each
> conference track is chaired by IS academics with research expertise in the
> respective area. The track chairs will supervise the review process,
> involving selected reviewers from the IS research community. Acceptance and
> rejection decisions are will be finalized by the Programme Committee.
>
> In general, the review criteria will be those typically used by major
> journals and conferences (e.g. relevance of the topic, quality of the
> research process, contribution etc). The results of the review process will
> be communicated to the author(s) by the specified date. The author(s) will
> be responsible for making the revisions recommended by the reviewers, and
> for submitting the final version of their paper by the appropriate deadline.
>
> Commitment to participate in the conference
> At least one author of each accepted paper and all the members of accepted
> panels must register for the conference.
>

> If you have any questions about the programme and/or the paper submission
> process, please contact the Programme Chairs Professor Frada Burstein,

> Value produced by digital service innovation is disrupting established
> markets as well as generating entirely new ones. The innovations come from
> many different sources: traditional R&D, cross-industry initiatives, new
> entrants that displace incumbents in traditional industries and more and
> more from open development processes or crowdsourcing of new ideas from
> consumers as existing or potential customers. This minitrack focuses on
> those open phenomena and practices. Examples new kind of development
> openness include, for example: the opening of the vast data resources
> collected by authorities and different governmental units, the increasing
> availability of new open sensor data (for example, from mobile devices),
> and innovation contests. We seek novel research describing innovative
> services or service systems that are created. The submissions can be
> research papers, case studies, or practitioner reports related new service
> development and their implications.
>
> Opening up the development of processes and crowdsourcing these services
> provide new opportunities and challenges. Developer driven voluntary
> innovation communities such as open data and open source offer a rich
> source for new insights. Developers, consumers and citizens can provide new
> ideas, but do not necessarily have the expertise, interest or resources to
> develop them further, which in turn opens up possibilities for established
> companies and new start-ups.
>
> This year we are especially interested on research related to the open

> questions is pivotal from the perspectives of business research and policy
> making. Studies employing design research as well as either qualitative or
> quantitative research methods are all welcomed.

> We invite you to submit papers for the ?Impacts of Information
> Technologies on Consumer Activities and Business Operations? minitrack at
> HICSS, January 5-8, 2016. The conference will be held on Kauai, Hawaii.
>
> This minitrack, building upon a successful track record of the last six
> years, will bring to HICSS high quality research that use analytical and
> empirical modeling approaches to explore the increasing complex roles that
> advanced information technologies such as Web 2.0, mobile, and cloud
> computing play in consumer decisions and activities, and business
> operations and strategies. In particular, we seek novel studies that
> systematically explore the complex interplays between information
> technology and consumer behavior, customer relationship management,
> organizational architectures, product development, sales and services, and
> supply chain management. We are also soliciting comprehensive reviews of
> relevant research, rigorous case studies, and applications highlighting the

> FULL PAPERS
>
> Full paper submissions to Cloud and Trusted Computing 2015 (C&TC 2015) must
> present original, highly innovative, prospective and forward-looking
> research in one or more of the themes given above. Full papers must break
> new ground, present new insight, deliver a significant research
> contribution
> and provide validated support for its results and conclusions. Successful
> submissions typically represent a major advance for the field of cloud
> computing, referencing and relating the contribution to existing research
> work, giving a comprehensive, detailed and understandable explanation of a
> system, study, theory or methodology, and support the findings with a
> compelling evaluation and/or validation. Each paper must be submitted as a
> single PDF file in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science format (not
> longer than 18 pages in length). Accepted regular papers will be included
> in
> the printed conference main proceedings and presented in the paper
> sessions.
> Submissions to C&TC 2015 must not be under review by any other conference
> or
> publication at any time during the C&TC review cycle, and must not be
> previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere.
>
>
>
> NOTES
>
> Notes (not longer than 6 pages in length) must report new results and
> provide support for the results, as a novel and valuable contribution to
> the
> field ? just like full papers. Notes are intended for succinct work that is
> nonetheless in a mature state ready for inclusion in archival proceedings.
> Notes will be held to the same standard of scientific quality as full
> papers, albeit for a shorter presentation, and must still state how they
> fit
> with respect to related work, and provide a compelling explanation and
> validation. Notes must be submitted as single PDF file in Springer Lecture
> Notes in Computer Science format. Accepted notes will be published in the
> conference main proceedings and will be presented in the paper sessions of
> the conference.

> - How are services aligned with non-functional requirements?
> - How are services aligned with compliance requirements?
>
> 2. Design of SoEA
> - How are business, software, platform and infrastructure services
> defined?
> - How are business services assigned to business processes?
> - Which phases do the lifecycle of business, software, platform and
> infrastructure services contain?
> - How can the fulfilment of non-functional requirements be monitored?
> - Which benchmarks and key performance indicators should be applied
> to services?
> - Which approaches exist for the continual improvement of services?
>
> 3. Mapping of SoEA to cloud-based enterprise resources
> - Which resources are relevant for SoEA?
> - How are services mapped to cloud-based enterprise resources?

> possibilities of Big Data (volume, variety, velocity, veracity)?
> - What are the information flows of Big Data integrated into
> Enterprise Architecture?
> - How does social production influence SoEA?
> - How can the creation of weak ties be supported in SoEA?
> - How to support collective decision processes in SoEA?
> - How does SoEA interrelate with cloud computing?
> - How are Enterprise Architectures designed using cloud-services?
> - How differ cloud-services from other kinds of services?

> The 4th International Workshop on Issues and Challenges in Social Computing
> (WICSOC 2015) - Social Media, Crowd Sourcing, and Public Health
>
> Social Computing Technologies (SCT) offer users opportunities for
> connectedness, participation and engagement, collaboration,
> offering/receiving
> social support, etc. These applications/systems gather abundance of
> information that when mined and analyzed will further enrich their services
> or help researchers understand many different things including social
> dynamics of people, wisdom of crowd, social construction and sharing of
> knowledge, etc. As a result, SCT can be leveraged to empower both health
> professional and citizens. Online Social media such as Facebook, Twitter,
> QuitNet are increasingly being used for health-related purposes. A 2013
> online survey suggests that 59.9% patients used Twitter for increasing
> knowledge and exchanging advice and 52.3% used Facebook for social support
> and exchanging advice (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23899831).
>
> Novel techniques for information analysis, reuse, and integration are
> critical to make sense of health-related information. Systematic
> approaches,
> design principles, and evaluation strategies need to be researched for
> developing effective health-related social computing applications. Other
> challenges in social computing include accommodating privacy, security, and
> trust expectations of users or separating good information from noise.
> The aim of this workshop is to discuss and exchange ideas on the issues and
> challenges in social computing systems as they relate to health care
> and public health. We invite research or position papers from researchers
> and practitioners working in any aspect of social computing with research
> focus on health, healthcare, or public health. Example topics, but not
> limited to, include:
>
>
> -> Design, modeling, and simulation of socially-aware health technology
> -> Demonstration cases of using existing social media platforms (e.g.,
> twitter, facebook) for health research
> -> Social network analysis for the purpose of understanding or
> intervening upon health related outcomes
> -> Behavioral intervention implemented through social media platforms
> -> Disease & health management using social media applications
> -> Crowdsourcing health or biomedical research
> -> Public health resource sensing or crowdsourcing of public health
> resources
> -> In time, in place healthcare information through social media
> -> Design and evaluation of online patient communities with social
> network features
>   -> Healthcare/mHealth Social Networks
> -> Data protection (Privacy, Security, Trust) in healthcare social
> networks
> -> Empowerment of patients and healthcare professionals
> -> Design and evaluation of social game for health education & awareness
> -> Classification and categorization of health information in social

I couldn't agree more Peter.

Ironically, when I first joined the list more than a decade ago, it behaved exactly as you describe, in fact even better! Others will have to inform us about why we went backwards to the current system, but it was disappointing at the time, and remains so, every time I have to scroll down that damn list of excessively long postings (no, we don't need to see every tiny detail of your conference on this list, thank you.)
