The Information Systems School at Queensland University of Technology invites
applications for the new position of a Professor and Chair in Spatial Sciences.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, inspirational and ambitious leader
and strong researcher, who will oversee an inter-disciplinary
research portfolio in the Spatial Sciences domain.

The position is supported by the Collaborative Research Centre Spatial Information
(CRCSI). The CRCSI is an unincorporated joint venture with over 100 partner
organisations from the corporate, government and university sectors across Australia
and New Zealand. This position is designed to engage through the CRCSI with both
industry and the research community to create opportunities for high quality research
and to facilitate engagement across the spatial industry and beyond.

The research program formulated by the CRCSI is focused upon infrastructure and the
intellectual capacity required to meet the future needs of the spatial information
industry. The CRCSI has four major research programs, covering core spatial science
disciplines and a broad, user-focused applications area. The key research programs
are described at www.crcsi.com.au. These programs are driven by the requirements of
the end user community, the prospects for successful technology transfer, the impact
of the research and the utilisation of project outcomes.

This Chair will be embedded within QUT's Information Systems School, which is globally
recognized for the high quality, relevance and impact of its research. The School
hosts a number of industry-funded Chairs and has comprehensive expertise in the
management, governance and conversion of such Chairs into research outcomes. One of
these, the Spatial Industries Business Association (SIBA) Chair of Spatial Information,
will work closely with the new Professor, providing complementary research capacity to
work on research problems of significance, scope and scale. The School is committed to
advancing its ability to convert spatial information science, data and technologies
into new value propositions for existing and emerging industries and end-users.
