Dear Colleagues,

AIS Council has appointed Professor Jan Recker as the next Editor-in-Chief for the Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS) for the 3 year term 1.7.2015-30.6.2018. Jan was recommended by a search committee, which consisted of Phillip Ein-Dor, Sirkka Jarvenpaa, Matti Rossi, Suprateek Sarker, Bernard Tan and Virpi Kristiina Tuunainen (Chair). The committee had a difficult choice to make among the highly qualified and highly motivated final candidates.

During his tenure Dr Recker plans to maintain the important role of CAIS as a traditional, broad-range journal that welcomes a variety of research papers and as the primary communications outlet for the AIS. He will work on firming the partnership with the sister journal, the Journal of the AIS, and reinforcing the role of CAIS for the global IS community.

We thank Prof. Matti Rossi for his service in the past three years and look forward to continue the work together with Dr. Recker in further strengthening the role of CAIS as a key communications outlet of the AIS.

Dr Recker’s academic background is as follows:

Jan Recker is Alexander-von-Humboldt Fellow and Full Professor for Information Systems at Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. Since 2012, Jan held the Woolworths Chair of Retail Innovation at QUT. His research focuses on process design, organizational innovation and IT-enabled business transformations. Jan’s research has appeared in the MIS Quarterly, the Journal of the AIS, the European Journal of Information Systems, the Communications of the AIS, Information & Management, Decision Support Systems, and others. He has held editorial board positions at the MIS Quarterly, the Communications of the Association for Information Systems, the Journal of IT Theory and Application and the Journal of Database Management.

Best regards,

Virpi Kristiina Tuunainen, AIS VP of Publications
