**POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

**MANAGEMENT SCIENCE AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

**OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY

**The Management Science and Information Systems (MSIS) Department in the Spears School of
Business at Oklahoma State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor
position slated to begin in Fall, 2016. The position is located on the main Stillwater campus.
OSU's MSIS Department has a unique blend of faculty, students and staff, delivering innovative
academic programs at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral level, producing impactful and high
quality research, and providing outstanding service to the profession, the university, the college and to
the community. Faculty are located in both Stillwater and Tulsa, and can teach classes in both locations
and/or on-line as well.
The Department is a national leader in Information Assurance (IA), having long been designated a
National Center of Academic Excellence in IA Education (CAE/IAE) and Research (CAE-R) by the
NSA and the Department of Homeland Security. This designation comes from the work of the faculty
affiliated with CTANS (Center of Telecommunications and Network Security Department).
Through its graduate programs and affiliation with SAS's Data Mining Certificate program and
significant faculty research in the area, the MSIS Department has strong programs in decision support
systems and business intelligence/data analytics/data science. Future plans include partnering with
OSU's Center for Health Sciences and the Center of Health Systems Innovation in delivering
additional graduate programs and certificates in health informatics and health care analytics.
The Department is also known for its innovative programs related to high school student outreach
including the ISyTE (Information Systems Technology Exploration) Summer Academy.
While applicants with all areas of MIS expertise are welcomed, the department does have specific
needs it seeks to fill. The candidate should be able to provide instructional support for classes in
object-oriented/multi-paradigm programming, web-based systems development, mobile development,
data warehousing, and other technical classes. The candidate should be engaged in impactful research
with aspirations of publishing in top MIS journals. Finally, the candidate should have an innovative
mindset and be willing to support and participate in departmental initiatives as needed.
To be considered for the position, the preferred applicant will have completed a Ph.D. in MIS or
related area from an AACSB accredited university. ABD's close to finishing their degree will also be
considered. Applicant screening will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
We intend to hold campus interviews for the position during the Fall 2015 semester. All positions are
contingent upon available funding.
