The Management Information Systems (MIS) department in the College of
Business Administration at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites
applications for a tenure-track information systems position at the
assistant-professor level.  The appointment will begin in August 2016 and
is contingent on state funding. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.



The person holding this position will be responsible for developing and
teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in information systems.
Qualified applicants will have a doctoral-level degree in information
systems or a related discipline by August 2016 and must have a record of
teaching excellence and high-quality research commensurate with
experience.  Candidates should have a solid foundation of information
systems curriculum knowledge (e.g. systems analysis and design, data
management, data communications, programming, management of information
systems, etc.) The ideal candidate will have expertise in big data, with a
focus on data integration (ETL, data marts, Hadoop clusters, NoSQL data
stores, etc.) and will be expected to integrate this expertise into
existing courses and/or to develop new courses.    Experience in grant
writing and conducting grant-funded and multidisciplinary research is
desirable.



The *MIS department* is a multidisciplinary department, which includes
eleven full-time tenure-track faculty members in the areas of supply-chain
management, information systems, statistics/business analytics, and
business communication. Additionally, there are several full and part-time
lecturers. The department offers the Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration (BSBA) – Information Systems Major, Master of Science in
Information Systems (MSIS), and MBA specializations in supply-chain
management, information systems, and project management.



The *College of Business Administration* enrolls approximately 4500
undergraduate business majors and about 600 graduate students pursuing the
MBA, MSIS, and Master of Science in Accountancy (MSA) degrees.  *San Diego
State University* is the oldest and largest university in San Diego and the
third largest in California. It offers 89 bachelor’s degrees, 78 master’s
degrees, and 22 doctoral degrees across seven colleges and two campuses.
The university is proactive in forming partnerships with business and
industry as well as with state and federal governments. The MIS department
is supported by an advisory board consisting of business leaders from the
region who provide curriculum advice, student internships, and research
projects.
