The Department of Information Systems in the College of Business at San 
Francisco State University anticipates a new tenure-track Assistant 
Professor position for Fall 2016, pending University approval. We will 
conduct informational interviews at AMCIS 2015.

The position involves teaching and research in Information Systems, a 
program designed for undergraduate and graduate business students. 
Current topics of instruction, all emphasizing applications within the 
business environment, include business application development, cloud 
computing platforms, web application development, open source systems, 
mobile business applications, business intelligence, business process 
management, e-commerce systems, multimedia application development, 
information systems analysis/design, database systems, network 
management, IT project management, and information security management. 
The department’s initiative to incorporate SAP into some courses has 
resulted in strong student interest and a Recognition Award Program at 
both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Therefore, experience and 
interest in teaching SAP integrated courses would be a plus.

Faculty are engaged in on-going research programs in a variety of areas 
including
mobile/wireless systems, green IT, crowdsourcing, cloud computing, 
knowledge modeling, electronic commerce, IT sourcing, open source 
adoption, innovative technology diffusion, human-system interaction, 
social network analysis, and database systems. Faculty research 
publications have appeared in various journals including ISR, Decision 
Sciences, EJIS, CAIS, and Operations Research, and faculty have 
published internationally recognized textbooks and professional books. 
The University’s location in San Francisco provides excellent 
opportunities for contacts with cutting-edge social media companies and 
high-tech companies located in nearby Silicon Valley. The department 
also has close contacts with a network of CIOs in the San Francisco Bay 
Area and hosts an annual CIO Executive Development program.

The position requires a PhD in IS or a related field completed by Fall 2016.
