Post Doctoral Research Fellow in Healthcare Information Technology

The University at Buffalo (UB) School of Management (SOM) is seeking candidates for a full-time position as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow in the Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) area. This position is for a 10-month appointment during 2015-2016, and begins on August 31, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Responsibilities for this position include working on research projects in the healthcare information technology (HIT) area that lead to concrete scholarly outcomes in terms of scholarly publications and research grant proposals. The selected candidate will engage and provide specific support on a research project that studies the use of telemonitoring, medication event management systems, mobile technologies, social media, and gaming to improve care and health outcomes for patients with chronic disease conditions such as HIV, diabetes, etc. Related areas of interest include the use of a ITs, gaming, and social networks to improve patient literacy, patient safety, health outcomes, and healthcare costs. This position will not only provide the selected individual with the opportunity to engage in productive research efforts with the SOM faculty and their collaborators in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the School of Public Health and Health Policy, but to also develop meaningful relationships for his/her own future research endeavors.

An earned doctorate in information systems with a minor/interests in organizational behavior, health behavior, psychology, or a related field is required for consideration. Applicants must have a track record and strong interests in the HIT area with a focus on behavioral and managerial research. Strong empirical research skills including experiment design, survey research, and econometrics are required. While not a requirement, additional technical skills in programming will be viewed favorably.

This is a research-intensive position and does not require any formal teaching responsibilities. Salary for the position is competitive and commensurate with candidate qualifications. If interested, the selected individual may arrange separately with the School of Management to teach one or more courses.
