SPECIAL ISSUE ON: Firefly Algorithm: Theory and Applications
International Journal of Swarm Intelligence Research (IJSIR)

Swarm intelligence (SI) based algorithms such as particle swarm optimization and firefly algorithm have been applied in many areas. Such algorithms use multiple agents as a population that can interact either linearly or nonlinearly in an iterative manner. In most cases, these algorithms can converge well and obtain very robust results. However, there are still many open problems associated with SI-based algorithms. For example, it still lacks a unified mathematical framework for analyzing such SI-based algorithms. Though we know many algorithms work well in practice, it is difficult to figure out why they work and under what conditions. This special issue is a timely attempt to address both theoretical aspects and applications.

The objective of this special issue is to focus on the firefly algorithm and its variants as well as applications so as to provide a timely summary in the latest developments concerning both theory and applications. It aims to inspire in-depth research in novel applications and theoretical analysis of the algorithm and its variants and hybrids. In addition, analysis and applications of other algorithms are also included as part of a more general picture of the latest developments in SI-based algorithms.

Topics to be discussed in this special issue include (but are not limited to) the following:

  *   Theoretical analysis of the firefly algorithm (FA) and its variants
  *   New applications of the firefly algorithm in real-world settings
  *   Hybridization of FA with other algorithms
  *   Other algorithms and relevant applications


Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit papers for this special theme issue on  Firefly Algorithm: Theory and Applications on or before 30 April 2016. All submissions must be original and may not be under review by another publication. INTERESTED AUTHORS SHOULD CONSULT THE JOURNAL'S GUIDELINES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSIONS at http://www.igi-global.com/development/author_info/guidelines submission.pdf<http://www.igi-global.com/development/author_info/guidelines%20submission.pdf>.  All submitted papers will be reviewed on a double-blind, peer review basis. Papers must follow APA style for reference citations.
