OTAGO BUSINESS SCHOOL

The Department of Information Science invites applications for an academic vacancy at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer level (the level of appointment will depend on the successful applicant’s track record). This vacancy offers the successful applicant the opportunity to join the staff of the well-established and internationally recognised Department of Information Science.

  *   Applicants must be able to teach in the area of Information Systems, including Information Systems Strategy.
  *   Applicants must hold a PhD in Information Systems or a related field and have a demonstrated ability to publish in peer reviewed outlets, including good quality academic journals and/or conferences in Information Systems.
  *   Teaching experience and a capacity to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research are central to the position being advertised.
  *   Potential to collaborate with existing staff in order to strengthen and broaden the department’s existing research strengths would be an advantage.


The position is based at the University of Otago’s main campus in Dunedin, New Zealand. Dunedin is the only university town in New Zealand, and offers an attractive environment on the coast, a very comfortable standard of living, and proximity to mountains, lakes and rivers with ready access to skiing, hiking and fishing.  Dunedin offers excellent infrastructure, and has recently been named as New Zealand’s Gigatown, which means it will have the fastest internet in the Southern Hemisphere.

Established in 1869, the University of Otago is New Zealand’s oldest and most research-intensive university, highly ranked for its research quality. It has a total enrolment of around 20,000 students spread across four academic divisions. The Business School is internationally recognised with EQUIS and AACSB accreditations and is internationally recognised as part of the prestigious PIM (Partners in International Management) network.

The preferred starting date for the successful applicant will be February 2016, with an earlier start preferred (start date will be open to negotiation).
