The University of Canterbury's (UC) Department of Accounting and Information Systems (ACIS) invites applications for two continuing/tenured positions at all levels in Information Systems. The University of Canterbury is currently ranked in the top 250 in the world by QS Worldwide University Ranking and was the first in New Zealand to receive the prestigious QS 'five star' ranking.  In 2014, UC was ranked by the Times Higher Education as the 22nd best university in the world for its international outlook.  In the 2012  NZ Performance Based Research Fund (PBRF) research rankings, UC Computer Science, Information Technology and Information Science was  ranked 3rd out of the eight NZ universities.

Appointees will be members of the Information Systems group within ACIS, which is currently experiencing student growth.  The group is actively involved in strategic initiatives including the new Masters of Business Information Systems and the government sponsored ICT Graduate School initiative designed to increase the supply of graduates with both ICT and business skills.

Appointments can be made at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor. Candidates for lecturer positions (equivalent to Assistant professor) will have a PhD and be able to demonstrate potential for excellence in both teaching and research. Candidates for the senior positions will be expected to demonstrate evidence of academic leadership, successful supervision of doctoral students, significant and current record of publications in top international journals, curriculum design and delivery, and high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Special consideration will be given to those with teaching and research expertise and experience in any of the following areas: business/data analytics, data management, web development, e-business and IS security.

In addition, the successful candidate for the role of Professor/Associate Professor will be a senior academic with proven strategic leadership, management and development abilities. This appointment offers an opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities at the Department and College level in mentoring staff and postgraduate students; developing key relationships between academics, departments within the University and external stakeholders.
