Professor of Information Systems: Full-time, Non-Tenure Track

The Boston College Information Systems Department is seeking applicants for a full-time non-tenure track teaching position (“Professor of Practice”), beginning September 2016.

The University: Boston College is a coeducational university with an average student population of 9,100 undergraduate and 4,500 graduate students, representing every state and more than 85 countries. Founded in 1863, it is one of the oldest Jesuit, Catholic universities in the United States. US News & World Report ranks Boston College 31st among national universities. The University's Carroll School of Management offers nationally ranked undergraduate, full-time MBA and part-time MBA programs. The school also offers highly regarded degree programs in Finance (MSF and Ph.D.) and Organizational Studies (Ph.D.). Boston College's 150-acre main campus is located in an open suburban setting six miles from downtown Boston. The University's $2.2 billion endowment ranks as one of the nation's 40 largest.

The Position: The position calls for a 3-3 teaching load. The initial contract is for one year, and after that is renewable annually for two-year increments. Salary and benefits are highly competitive with both tenure-track and non-tenure track positions at other universities. Candidates should be willing and able to teach both managerial classes (e.g., Introduction to IS, Ecommerce) and technical classes (e.g., Data Analytics, Programming for Managers, Systems Analysis and Design) to both undergraduates and MBAs. We are also looking for candidates who will be enthusiastic about working with students outside the classroom setting (e.g., advising students and clubs). Information about the IS Department is available at:
http://www.bc.edu/schools/csom/departments/informationsystems.html.

Qualifications: A well-qualified applicant will thoroughly enjoy teaching and possess extensive evidence of teaching excellence at an accredited business school. A Ph.D. in Information Systems and significant industry experience are both preferred, but not required.

The Carroll School of Management is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and encourages applications from individuals who will expand the ethnic and gender diversity of our faculty. We will be conducting interviews by teleconference and at the ICIS conference in Fort Worth, TX. Please submit application in electronic form at http://apply.interfolio.com/30047. Please include a cover letter, a vita, contact information for three references, and evidence of teaching experience or effectiveness. Questions can be directed by email to Ben Horton at hortonba at bc.edu. For full consideration, please submit all materials by November 15, 2015.
