*The Department of Advertising, Public Relations and Media Design at the
University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a tenure-track
*assistant professor* position in the area of big data and analytics to
begin in August 2016.
Applicants should have an expertise in data analytics and the use of big
data and related methods in the area of strategic communication
(advertising and public relations). The ideal candidate will teach
courses in media planning, brand/media analytics and metrics, and
advanced methods courses both at undergraduate and graduate level.
Interest and ability to collaborate with faculty in the area of
information science on high-quality empirical research and external
grants is highly desirable. A PhD in communication, business,
information science or a related field is required.
ABD applicants with exceptional research, teaching and professional
experience will be considered with the expectation of completion of a
PhD by the time of appointment. The standard teaching load is two
classes per semester with opportunities to teach and mentor PhD
students. Professional experience and strong relationships with
advertising and PR industry are highly desirable. And opportunities to
build and teach in a professional master’s program in Denver also exist.
The College of Media, Communication and Information is the first new
college at CU in 53 years. CMCI is at the forefront of the revolution in
communication and digital technology, and is a distinctive,
collaborative, interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial enterprise where
students engage with world-class faculty to learn, create and analyze
media content in all its many forms. CMCI is establishing a new standard
for teaching and scholarship in communication, media and information,
and we are seeking faculty to join our growing enterprise and who can

research, teaching, and/or service.
