The Department of Management in the College of Business Administration at The University of Akron is seeking applicants for a full time, bargaining unit position that may or may not lead to tenure.  Rank is open.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach, publish in appropriate outlets, and contribute to various service activities.  The position requires the ability to teach a variety of information systems (IS) courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  A particular emphasis is on Object-oriented Programming and Systems Integration, with secondary emphasis on Analytics.
The appointed title will be determined by the finalists' credentials and experience.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must be classifiable as any one of the following based on AACSB standards:
(a) a scholarly academic (normally a Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related discipline from an accredited university with recent, or expected, publications in refereed journals);
(b) a practitioner academic (normally a Ph.D. in information systems or a closely related degree from an accredited university with significant experience in industry practice and recent publications in appropriate journals; or
(c) a scholarly practitioner (normally an individual who holds at least a master's level degree), has significant experience in IS areas, and has recent publications in appropriate journals.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and a dedication to excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
For the Systems Integration course, teaching traditional enterprise integration approaches or modern REST/ASMX/WCF web service framework approaches in an object-oriented programming language would be valued.
For Object-Oriented Programming, demonstrated proficiency in Java, C#, or C++ would be valued.
