Information systems have a major role in connecting actors in different geographic locations, both within organizations but also beyond them to the level of societies and countries. Building on the role of Istanbul as a bridge between continents and cultures, this track will focus on this role of information systems as a global gateway enabling an infrastructure with blade servers and cloud computing, ERP, and CRM.
In addition to this enabling infrastructure one may put emphasis on data and process aspects of IS with the same spirit of global gateway. Noticeably, we have witnessed a sheer number of online interactive platforms that provide their users with special networking and interpersonal communication features. The widespread use and economic impact of these platforms signifies them as a research and industry phenomenon and calls for empirical data science related research.
The track will approach the topic from multiple perspectives, including as enabler of cooperation in tasks like software development or innovation, but also through e- and m-commerce as well as big data. Virtualization and interconnection are the major theme of the track along with social networking.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

* IS as a global gateway in (e- and m-)commerce

*         Global Software Development

* Open Innovation and Innovation Communities Open Source Software Development

* Big Data Analytics as IS being a global gateway

* E-learning systems as global gateways

* IS Adoption in global and cross-cultural contexts

* Information Systems as Complex Systems

* Changing Role of IS along with Internet of Things

* Network and Data Science for a Connected World
