MT4BD 2016 Call For Papers
3nd Workshop on New Methods and Tools for Big Data (MT4BD-2016)
16-18 September 2016, Thessaloniki - Greece

We would like to cordially invite you to consider contributing a paper to
3nd Workshop on "New Methods and Tools for Big Data (MT4BD-20165)" - held
as a
part of the 12th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence
and Innovations (AIAI 2016) https://conferences.cwa.gr/aiai2016/.

The provision of large amount of data from various sources (Internet,
Social Media,
Application Logs, Data Warehouses, Sensors, Mobiles, Open Data, etc.) is
now emerging
into the collection and processing of "Big Data". While Big Data notion is
adopted by
both academic and enterprise communities, there is currently a wide gap
between its
potential and its realization. Variety, velocity, scale, complexity,
and security problems with Big Data raise challenges at all phases of the
that can extract information and knowledge from it. Thus, there is a
natural interest
in using these data assets to improve a variety of applications. It is very
to explore how researchers utilize data-driven strategies and discover what
will change because of the advent of data. With the vast amount of data now
modern businesses are facing the challenges of storage, management,
analysis, privacy,
visualization, security and data integration.

The aim of this workshop is to serve as an interdisciplinary forum for
bringing together
specialists from the scientific areas of Computer Engineering,
Medicine, Finance and Operational Research. The focus of this workshop is
on current
technological advances and challenges about the development of big
data-driven algorithms
and methods and tools. Furthermore, it would be very interesting to
investigate if the use
of a vast amount of data leads to more accurate models or not.

Following the success of the previous two MT4BD (MT4BD2014 and MT4BD2015)
aims to further promote the formation of a community around the topic and
gather an increased number of researchers and practitioners.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following new
and applications relevant to the big data topic:

- Big Data Analytics;
  Business intelligence and analytics;
  Interactive Visualization Technologies and Visual Analytics;
  Knowledge representation and reasoning;
  Data mining;
  Human Collaboration (crowdsourcing)
- Tools and Applications:
  Smart Health and Wellbeing;
  Smart Cities;
  Ontologies for Big Data;
  Sensors Networks;
  Industrial Automation;
  Systems Biology and Bioinformatics;
  Network-based and Personalized Medicine;
  Financial Forecasting and Trading;
- Big Data Architectures and Frameworks
  Cloud computing;
  Grid computing;
  Large-scale triple stores;
  Reasoning over streaming data;
  Data storage and processing frameworks;
  Security and privacy;

Authors are invited to submit original, English-language research
contributions or experience
reports. Papers should be no longer than 10 pages formatted according to
the well-known LNCS
Springer style (http://www.springer.com/lncs) and in PDF format. All papers
should be submitted
through EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mt4bd2016.

Submitted papers will be refereed by at least three reviewers for quality,
correctness, originality,
and relevance. Notification and reviews will be communicated via email.
Accepted papers will be
presented at the conference and included in the proceedings, which will be
published by SPRINGER
in the IFIP AICT Lecture Notes in Computer Science
