*Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Business School Professor of
Business Information Systems With potential Head of Department secondment*



Applications are invited from suitably qualified academics interested in
the role of professor of Business Information Systems at *The* *Auckland
University of Technology Business School*. A suitable candidate will also
be one who wishes to take up a three year secondment to the Head of the
Business Information Systems Department.



The AUT Business School is particularly interested in high quality and
enthusiastic academics who can lead others and work collaboratively to
mobilise opportunities and deliver high quality programmes of teaching and
research that connect with the broader business community and professions.
Applicants are expected to have a strong record of scholarly research
outputs that make an exemplary contribution to research in the Business
Information Systems discipline and an appreciation of a broad range of
research topics and methods. An internationally recognised research profile
is required as evidenced by publications and other research outputs in
highly regarded international journals. It is essential that applicants
have significant experience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate
courses to business students, successfully supervising PhD theses,
mentoring students and colleagues and, pro-actively engaging in relevant
academic leadership or service to the profession.



The head of department is expected to provide leadership to further enhance
the department’s excellence in research, teaching and engagements with
appropriate stakeholders. Applicants should have a proven record of
transparent and successful strategic planning with the ability to
effectively engage department members, others in the faculty, university
and beyond. Applicants should have the ability to engender trust and
respect as well as to motivate staff to achieve shared goals.



The Department of Business Information Systems has an established PhD
programme, Masters’ degree specialisation, and a major in the AUT Bachelor
of Business. The Department consists of a small but dynamic group of
academics who are passionate about research, teaching and contributing to
academic scholarship in the discipline. We actively engage in broad areas
of research related to social and organisational aspects of IT (at
individual, organisational and societal levels). There is another element
of the department’s research, albeit comparatively smaller, into operations
and supply chain management.
