Call for Chapters:
Book title: Big Data in Education
http://ksei.bnu.edu.cn/info/CfP-BigDatainEducation.html
* Publisher: Springer
* Introduction
Current educational practices are still not very data intensive, so most of the data can still be handled with regular data management systems and statistical tools. However, this is rapidly changing as smart educational devices & services, robots and more in general ‘the internet of things’ are entering the educational arena in real practice. The availability of large multi-dimensional data sets presents renewed opportunities for research in educational technology and the learning sciences. The power of data to understanding learning can also be amplified by combining heterogeneous data sets, extending beyond, for example, the cognitive to include the emotional, meta-cognitive, and social layers. The use of Big data in Education can also be envisaged at the macro (institutions), meso (programs) and micro (courses) level, at each level for different actors/roles and processes.
We invite chapters that focus on various aspects related to Big data in education. The scope of the book includes but is not limited to:
•Changes in educational paradigm due to Big data
•Data collection techniques for smart devices and other tools
•Role of data analysis and learning analysis
•Effective visualization technologies to support different stakeholders
•Role of cloud computing and artificial intelligence
•Smart Devices/Services in Education, including robots, internet of things
•Application of Machine Learning /Statistical Methods with Educational data
•Educational architectures, infrastructures and tools for Big data
•Privacy and ethical issues with Big data in education
•Example applications of Big data at micro, meso, macro level
