In this issue, in addition to regular research articles, which provide further consideration of topics that we have previously covered – knowledge sharing in inter-organizational contexts, and trust in IT acquisitions – we include commentaries on theory appropriation in Information Systems research, in this instance, in relation to the use of Transaction Cost Economics in outsourcing research.

A response to one of the commentaries is provided by the authors of the original paper, and subsequent commentaries deal not only with this specific context but the appropriation of theory in IS research more generally.
