Primary Function of Organizational Unit

Mission
The mission of the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business is to foster the development of capable business professionals who are responsible citizens grounded in a liberal arts education.

Primary Purpose of Position

To meet the academic and instructional needs of students in the core curriculum as well as those majoring in programs offered by the department. Based on student enrollment, future demand and University goals.
To teach principles of information systems which is a core business class for all business students. To teach other MIS classes for minors and majors.

Minimum Requirements
Proposed Minimum Experience/Education

A minimum of at least 18 semester graduate credit hours within the teaching discipline of information systems, information technology or computer science is required.
A doctorate in Information Systems, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
Must meet SCACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))

Department Required Skills

Candidates must have experience working in the information systems field.
Candidates must have experience teaching information systems classes at a college level.

Preferences
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Strong communication skills.
Successful higher education teaching experience.
Teaching experience with college information systems classes.
Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
Teaching experience at an AACSB accredited university.
Knowledge of VB or other programming languages. Experience with web development and/or desktop publishing software. Knowledge of SAP. Experience with business analysis.
Hiring preference will be given to faculty who demonstrate an understanding of Georgia College's mission and who are enthusiastic about working closely with high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.
